Raster: Confessions of a Gallerist
Łukasz Gorczyca, co-founder of Raster Gallery in Warsaw
Wednesday, August 15 at 7pm
In a brief presentation Łukasz Gorczyca, known as a co-founder of Raster Gallery in Warsaw, will discuss topics concerning the local gallery scene in Poland, offering his unique perspective on producing, promoting and collecting contemporary art in the region.
Having started Raster in 2001 together with Michał Kaczyński, they were always focused on the local art scene, while at the same time strived to build and maintain a significant presence on the international art scene. They both have been involved in promoting artists of the young generation and has fostered the early careers of many Polish artists (e.g. Michał Budny, Rafał Bujnowski, Aneta Grzeszykowska and Wilhelm Sasnal).
Gorczyca will explain how the gallery has successfully evolved over years in an extremely challenging market, and how its program continues to grow, drawing in new, intriguing, and dynamic figures of the international art scene (such as Slavs and Tatars collective, Eva Kotatkova, and Ragnar Kjartansson).
Supported by the Polish Institute.
